While the exact construction remains a closely guarded secret, the use of Monel 400 tape gives these strings their distinctive character and tone. Unlike many competing flatwound strings that use less expensive flattened stainless steel, Monel delivers exceptional warmth, clarity, and response.

These strings are still manufactured the traditional way by hand on machines originally built by James How in the late 1960s.
