Dead Air Studios Feral + Distortion Pedal (Pre-Owned)

Description

The FERAL and FERAL+ pedals are the end result of years of loving the Rat circuit and searching for the sounds and flexibility that I imagined were possible, but could never find.

I wanted more low end and weight, especially when dialing the Distortion knob below noon. I wanted more control over the gain, and where it transforms from overdrive, to distortion, to fuzz, typically within very small moves on the dial. It was also imperative to me that while trying to expand upon the original design that I not lose any of its defining characteristics.

FERAL+ is the ultra flexible, mad scientist version that checked everything off my list and more. FERAL is the condensed version for conserving pedal board real estate and a unique approach to clipping.

Controls

• DISTORTION: Primarily increases gain. Lower settings are brighter; higher settings darker and fuller. Tone interacts with gain adjustments.
• FILTER: High cut knob. Start fully down, then determine how much high end to remove.
• VOLUME: Controls final output volume; varies with clipping settings.
• BASS: Pre-distortion bass boost. Adds weight and fullness. Interactive with DISTORTION knob.
• TAME: Softens high end pre-distortion. Higher levels reduce gain subtly.

Switches

• GAIN SWITCH: Adjusts gain range.
  • FULL: Traditional gain range.
  • MID: Alters distortion knob so max is just past 12 o'clock.
  • LOW: Subtle range depending on clipping and guitar output.
• CLIP SWITCH: Changes clipping style.
  • SILICON: Classic vintage, most distortion, lowest output.
  • LED: Turbo setting, decreased distortion, added clarity, higher output.
  • OP AMP: Cleanest, unique overdrive feel, lots of volume.
• SHAPE SWITCH: Symmetrical is traditional; Asymmetrical adds extra diode for dynamic feel. No effect in OP AMP mode.

LM308 chip included and socketed.

Power

• Standard 'Boss-style' 9V DC Power with center negative tip.
• 9-18V operation OK; higher voltages increase headroom.
• Current draw: 3 mA
• No battery power option

Condition - Excellent

An item in excellent condition has been used but shows only minor cosmetic imperfections, such as light scratches or small dings. It functions perfectly and has been well-maintained.
