Description

Created in collaboration with hard rock bass legend James Lomenzo, the Lomenzo Hyper Drive draws on James' 30-year playing career that has seen him work with Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society, David Lee Roth, Ozzy Osbourne, Slash's Snake Pit, White Lion, and Megadeth.

To create the fire-breathing overdrive sound that James craves, the drive section in the Hyper Drive is far from typical. A band of frequencies in the midrange of the bass signal is selected, and the distortion effect is only applied to those frequencies. This creates a unique overdrive flavour whereby the top and bottom end remains untouched, but the powerful mids can be tuned from a mild growl to full-on distortion.

You can tune the distortion frequency range to suit your bass or playing style, and a mix control lets you balance the original 'dry' signal back into the mix.

Whether you're using an active or passive bass, the Ashdown VU meter in combination with the input level knob lets you easily find the sweet spot, ensuring you get the best possible tone in and out of whatever instrument you're using.

We know the rigours of live gigging, which is why we build our pedals tough enough for whatever the road throws at them. Metal casings, premium controls and switches, recessed knobs, and kickguards to protect screens and VU meters – bring it on!

We don't mess with your tone. Ashdown Pedals feature genuine 'true bypass' switching for zero colouration of your input signal when the pedal isn't in use. The output level control lets you dial in the perfect balance between the effect and the true bypass level.
